“In the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take, the relationships we were afraid to have, and the decisions we waited too long to make.”
– Lewis Carroll, a quote grabbed randomly from the quote jar today.
Take a moment right now to think of 3 things you are so incredibly grateful for. List them in your head, write them on a piece of paper, really picture them in your mind. Why are you grateful for those things or people? How did those things come into your life? How can you honor those 3 things in your day today?
As I am trying so desperately to navigate through my last semester of college and trying to figure out what next, I keep coming across these eye-opening moments of gratitude for the most tragic things that have happened thus far. There are so many difficult and trying moments in our lives that we really wish we didn’t have to deal with. Broken and lost relationships, failing grades, not being able to do, not being able to obtain, suffering, and these accumulating feelings of not having it all together. For who? Not yourself. Everyone else is who we try to have it together for.
Well, I’m here to tell you today that this life is yours. You get to choose your life and your circumstances. You get to see the picture in a positive light when others don’t see light in it at all. That’s the beauty of this life being yours.
You can choose to be bitter or you can choose to be grateful.
I woke up today, grateful that I get to choose my life. I choose to heal from pain, I choose happiness over dwelling on the bad, I choose to see the light when everyone else sees darkness. I am choosing this life for me, because I am going to live the consequences. No one else. I am taking the risks, because I’d rather be grateful for the lesson than regretful of not taking the chance. For in the most difficult moments, I have the most gratitude for life’s lessons and life’s blessings.
Don’t ask too many people for advise. They won’t live your consequences. Follow your intuition and know there will always be something to be grateful for. Live your life for you. It’s the only life you’ve got.
